The Background:

An excellent opportunity has just arisen within this Global Mobility department. Working as a Global Mobility Tax Manager, you will be the subject matter expert for Taxation and Immigration policies.

The Role:

The responsibilities of a Global Mobility Tax Manager include but are not limited to the following:

Be directly responsible for managing relationships with key executives and others outside of the team.

Regular accountability to others outside of team

Have accountability to other internal groups for the organisation and be responsible for decisions that impact an area/group outside the team regarding Employee Tax and Immigration Advisory Services

Supervises the management of tax and immigration vendor relationships, negotiates vendor contracts/service levels and addresses service issues.

Have significant direct financial responsibility for country(ies) of responsibility (for example: savings regarding tax planning opportunities, tax audits costs or savings, immigration and employee tax SOW …)

Have large influence on the business/ ongoing interaction with /business leadership

Authority to make decisions; recognized and respected in business advisory capacity

Lead or be an active participant in, manage or supervise others in additional global projects or initiatives

Lead or be an active participant in one of the following: immigration, tax and finance, mobility advisory tools or policy/assignee support and ensure all their team members are aligned in one of these Centers

Supervises and provides employee tax planning and risk management for country(ies) of responsibility with the objective of minimizing tax costs

Tax planning & advice for global compensation & benefit plans, employees, contractors (e.g. Advice on tax withholding methods and updates to tax withholding rates for equity compensation plans)

Set policy, respond to escalations, and manage tax vendor for domestic tax compliance programs (e.g. Compensatory and multi-state)

M&A support for equity plans, cross-border employee tax and immigration issues

Review regulatory filings and tax disclosures for equity plans, IPO shares, board and executive officer compensation

Interpret cross-border tax regulations and set mobility related tax policy, positions and processes

Set controls points to ensure Tax Mobility Delivery Services reflect the tax positions signed off

Provide internal advice and expertise on effective tax and finance planning for mobility programs and individual assignments (e.g. Develop customized tax planning solutions for senior level cross-border assignments, cost analysis of mobility policy provisions)

Develop and maintain tax related planning and advisory tools (BCAT, FACT)

Manage mobility tax controversy

Represent company’s interests with relevant government agencies and advocacy groups

Escalation point for immigration controversy

Maintain immigration policy and positions

Manage immigration vendor contracts

Develop and implement standards and controls to ensure compliance with signed off positions

Manage relationships and communications with external parties regarding immigration practices and positions

Develop training for stakeholders


The Person:

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within the field of: taxation, international assignments or global mobility. You will be well organised, a strong communicator, have a thirst for knowledge and self-development and possess good interpersonal skills as you will be dealing with expatriates and senior managers on a day-to-day basis. Any additional knowledge of immigration and the associated issues would be advantageous.
