Description

Account management and responsibility for delivery of outsourced corporate immigration services to clients in the UAE.


Key Responsibilities, duties and accountabilities

  • Managing the outsourced migration process of the clients (ensuring compliance) and overall project / programme management.

  • Manage delivery of services to clients in respect of corporate immigration issues associated with transfer of staff into the UAE including processing of employee and family work and residence permits for clients

  • Review and support work performed by consultants assigned to client teams in respect of individual employee UAE immigration eligibility and needs assessments, and interfacing with individual employees by advising on process, timings & documentation requirements

  • In an account manager capacity, interface with the client with respect to all client needs (e.g. reporting, status updates, regulatory advice, training)

  • Hands-on involvement with case escalations for all stages including issue identification, resolution, notification and process review / analysis

  • Take the lead in assisting clients and consultants assigned to the client team with complex matters and enquiries

  • Develop and maintain professional and enduring relationships with senior client contacts with Legal, Compliance, Global Mobility, Human Resources, business/line managers, and/or procurement departments of client companies

  • Providing business and regulatory compliance advice in order to support clients on immigration process related technical matters, in particular the labour and immigration requirements for expatriate staff transferring to the UAE

  • Maintaining records of government fees incurred by the client and providing a weekly reconciliation

  • Operate in highly visible and externally facing role to build contacts and relations with all Firm’s offices, practice groups, co-counsel, and affiliates

  • Assist appropriately in sensitive and/or urgent client matters where action and specialist support may be required

  • Participate in business development initiatives and new client implementation projects. Lead and perform case work in initial phases whilst client protocols are established

Travel

  • Need to commute reliably to client site / office base and be flexible enough to work extended hours when required


Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Immigration solicitor, attorney, compliance consultant, specialist, or other relevant professional immigration or equivalent qualification(s)

  • At least 3 years’ experience of managing immigration process with UAE experience an added advantage and total 5 years’ total relevant experience in a multinational environment

  • Deep knowledge of the regulatory framework supporting the relevant processes for the UAE is an added advantage

  • Experience in managing own caseload of immigration files in the UAE

  • Must be able to communicate effectively using written media and demonstrate strong commercial awareness

  • Experience of working in a busy corporate environment, meeting tight deadlines, maintaining professional composure when dealing with difficult situations and succeeding in meeting demanding client expectations

  • Must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator

  • Language skills (English required and Arabic is an advantage)

  • Appreciation for legal and business cultural norms in international environment; international experience a plus and in particular the Middle East

  • Solid understanding of internal corporate organisational structure

  • Fluent understanding of the compliance function within large corporate organisations and the inter-relation between immigration compliance and the broader compliance, legal and HR functions.


Computer skills

  • Must be adept at using the latest Excel/Word packages, and ideally Access or similar database to basic level, Internet and email

  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly with on the job training and support
