Crown Relocations: UK Team raises funds for Rare Skin Disease CharityUK-based employees of Crown Relocations, a leading global mobility and relocation specialist and a business division of the Crown Worldwide Group, have recently been taking part in a number of charitable events to raise money for the UK branches’ nominated charity of the year, the Dystrophic Epidermolysis Research Association (DebRA).

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a rare genetic disorder that is painful and can lead to disability, disfigurement and early death. There is no cure or treatment today. EB makes the skin so fragile that the slightest friction causes painful blisters and open wounds. The eyes, mouth, throat and other internal organs are also affected. DebRA is a worldwide charitable organization with a great mission to fight the disease many suffered at birth and a great cause to support.

As part of their fundraising efforts, Crown employees from London organized a very successful staff quiz night with 75 members attending to compete against their colleagues. Thirteen teams battled it out to become the overall winner. The contestants raised £600 or $932 USD for DebRA.

Various UK Crown staff members also helped DebRA’s account manager, John Parker, collect donations and hand out leaflets to passers by at the busy Paddington train station which secured an additional £300 or $466 USD. They have also been busy filling up clothing sacks to donate to the charity’s clothing stores and gave up time from their working day to volunteer with the running of the these shops across London. The Crown Edinburgh team helped run the DebRA shops in Marchmont and Stockbridge areas. The team supported the charity’s shop assistants in a number of tasks including organizing donations, greeting customers and working the cash registers. Additional charity fundraising events raised an extra £1,300 or $2000 USD for DebRA.

David Hollins, regional general manager at Crown Relocations, said: “It’s great that our staff have been able to support such a worthy cause. DebRA is a great charity that does amazing things for people with EB so volunteering with them has been a privilege and one that the team really values and enjoys.”
