Berry Appleman & Leiden Immigration Group Opens Offices in Brazil
The Berry Appleman & Leiden immigration group is pleased to announce the opening of Berry Appleman & Leiden Consultoria e Assessoria de Imigração Ltda. (BAL) in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to provide comprehensive immigration services for Brazil and Latin America. Through these offices, the firm will provide customized technology with centralized tracking and global compliance assurance to Brazilian and Latin American companies.
BAL’s São Paulo and Rio offices will be led by Daniela Lima, who has more than twelve years of experience in mobility and Brazilian immigration law, and additional experience in migration matters related to Latin America. As Practice Director of BAL Brazil and the Latin America Regional Migration Manager, Lima will manage and grow the Brazilian practice and lead the BAL Latin America program.
Joining the Rio office will be Global Visa Associate Attorney Adriana Coelho, who brings expertise in immigration matters related to Brazil’s oil and gas markets. BAL’s São Paulo office will include Global Visa Associate Attorneys Fernando Teixeira and Letícia Godoy, who bring immigration expertise in the sports and entertainment sectors and the construction and energy sectors.
Lima expressed excitement about her new role, saying that “BAL is the first U.S. immigration group to open offices in Brazil. I look forward to providing excellent service to BAL clients in this region.”
BAL’s newly promoted Global Practice Directors Roland Lechner and Jet Stigter are driving the firm’s strategy to expand into international locations where clients have the greatest need for on-the-ground services.
“With our São Paulo and Rio offices, our clients can be assured of the same level of service in Brazil and regionally in Latin America that we are known for in the U.S., Australia, and regionally in EMEA and APAC,” says Stigter. “These are exciting times, and we are fortunate to be able to welcome a core team of excellent attorneys in Brazil.”
Lechner agrees.
“We are now able to be where our clients are. We can answer questions in real time, increase the level of our client services, and expand our presence in Latin America.”
BAL Global Practice Managing Partner Shawn Orme concluded by stating that this office “will be a central hub for our Latin American practice. Brazil is a key area in the region, and we’re opening this office with a trusted team that we’ve worked with for years. The members of this team ensure a seamless transition. We welcome them all to BAL.”
