United States: Visa Processing at Chennai Consulate Expected to Resume on Monday
The U.S. Consulate in Chennai, India is expected to resume visa interviews and processing on Monday, September 24, after being closed this week due to security concerns.
Foreign nationals whose visa appointments were cancelled due to this week’s closures may reschedule their appointments using the consulate’s online scheduling system. Appointments from September 24 to 26 must be scheduled using the VFS system. Appointments after September 26 must be scheduled using the consulate’s new scheduling system. The consulate has added 1,300 appointment slots for the week of September 24-28 to accommodate the backlog of cancelled interviews.
Foreign nationals with visa appointments at Chennai during the week of September 24 to 28 should check the consulate’s website for the latest information on the reopening and resumption of consular services. If security concerns persist, the closures could be extended into next week, though that is not anticipated at this time.
