India: Visa Processing Delays Expected for Applicants in the United States
Individuals applying for visas to India from within the United States should expect application processing delays in the coming months, as India transitions to a new visa services outsourcing firm.
On July 1, 2013, India will transfer processing duties for all visa applications submitted in the United States to a different outsourcing firm. As a result, visa applicants in the United States should expect processing delays through the next six to eight weeks.
Travisa Visa Service, India’s current visa processing vendor in the United States, will continue to accept and process Indian visa applications until July 1. Currently, visa applications are processed in three to ten business days.
India is moving to a new visa services vendor due to a government mandate that such outsourcing contracts be made with only Indian-owned firms.
