An assignment population of more than 1000 would rightly be regarded as a “mega” programme that presents unique challenges not only in assignee management but also for the strategic role of the function, its interfaces with internal customers/clients and other stakeholders.All of the above Team categories celebrate how an in-house global mobility/international assignments/HR team has worked together to deliver objectives and benefits that support the business strategies of their organisation. 

Entrants should explain how the individual and collective skills of their mobility team contributed to their success in delivering considered objectives, innovation and verifiable, measureable results in support of business goals.  Examples of both strategic action and customer/client service can be used to demonstrate achievements

Expatriates often have to work in challenging conditions and difficult locations.Best Practice companies have well designed programmes and policies for risk and continuity management and are able to respond rapidly to medical emergencies, natural disasters and political turmoil. 

Entrants/nominees should be able to demonstrate how they address these problems and give examples of successful outcomes.

This category applies if you operate a benefits strategy across two or more countries dealing with staff working outside their home country.  

The judges will be looking for an entrant that has used its international benefits strategy effectively to help drive its business goals.

For example, you may have:

  • used innovative approaches to reduce costs
  • developed a new benefit strategy across several countries
  • launched a flexible benefits plan across the global assignee population

The judges will be looking for evidence of clear objectives, innovative approaches and measurable results.

Awards CategoriesMost Effective Relocation Management Strategy – Sponsored by Interdean
In this category judges will be looking at the best possible use of resources across the management of international relocation.  

Entrants should show:

  • The requirement for improved strategy within their company or organisation as regards relocation
  • Clear evidence of any innovations, effective deployment of resources or improvement in cost management
  • Longer term impact and lessons learned and how any improved methods have been introduced to other parts of the business or other clients.

In addition to the 4 point criteria for entry requirements listed above for the Service Provider Awards, entrants should also provide:  

  • Clear evidence of the benefits of working cooperatively between the client team and service provider team
  • Innovative approached to managing the relationship between service provider and client to ensure that they are working towards a common goal

  • how any improved methods have been introduced to clients or other parts of the business.
Destination Services Provider of The Year
The judges will be seeking to understand:  

  • the organisational benefits driven by the team/individual/company concerned in the relevant business area.
  • how nominees have impacted the overall business priorities of their clients and any specific benefits to their assignees and any obstacles overcome.

Thought Leadership – Best Survey or Research Study of the Year
There are a number of studies produced annually that seek to provide research and expertise to the wider global mobility community.  These come from a variety of sources.  

In this category the judges will be seeking evidence of:

  • industry research based on a sound model both in terms of theory and evidence
  • the display of innovative ideas supported by clear analysis
  • genuine thought leadership offering advice and guidance
  • concise and accessible communication of findings

Most Innovative Use of Technology in Global Mobility

The policies, processes and information that make up the global mobility function are detailed and complex and should be ideal subjects for automation.  However the same complexities throw up challenges and opportunities for a variety of potential software solutions.  

In this category, we will be seeking nominees from solution providers or corporate teams who have developed bespoke solutions who can demonstrate that their product or system:

  • Addresses a key need/needs within the global mobility market
  • Displays comprehensive functionality
  • Is user-friendly
  • Provides value for money to clients and customers

Nominations for this category will be for those who will have likely worked in excess of five years in our industry.  

The judges will be looking for evidence of a significant, consistent record of achievement with regard to such features as quality of service delivery, innovation, knowledge and overall professional reputation.

Winners in this category are those likely to be considered for the Outstanding Contribution Award in future years.
